The start line
This is where we begin: two pairs of boots, a Norfolk Coast target, and Nan at the centre of every step.
Our Trek26 training is officially underway. Mum and I are taking on the 13-mile Norfolk Coast route for my nan, who is living with Alzheimer's, and this blog is where we'll keep track of the road to event day.
The first stage is simple: build a routine we can stick to. That means regular local walks, testing shoes and layers, getting used to carrying water, and slowly stretching the distance without rushing it.
We know the walk itself will be emotional as well as physical. Doing it together gives us a way to put our love for Nan into action, while raising money for Alzheimer's Society and the support they give to families affected by dementia.
Next up: a few steady evening walks, one longer weekend loop, and probably a very serious conversation about snacks.
